Save Your Breath (Morgan Dane Book 6) Pdf

ISBN: B07GK5736Z
Title: Save Your Breath (Morgan Dane Book 6) Pdf

The #1 Amazon Charts bestselling series continues as Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger investigate the mysterious disappearance of a true-crime writer.

When true-crime writer Olivia Cruz disappears with no signs of foul play, her new boyfriend, Lincoln Sharp, suspects the worst. He knows she didn’t leave willingly and turns to attorney Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger to find her before it’s too late.

As they dig through Olivia’s life, they are shocked to discover a connection between her current book research on two cold murder cases and the suicide of one of Morgan’s prospective clients.

As Morgan and Lance investigate, the number of suspects grows, but time is running out to find Olivia alive. When danger comes knocking at their door, Morgan and Lance realize that they may be the killer’s next targets.

And so we say goodbye to Morgan Dane and Sharp Invesigations Bear in mind that when I say Morgan Dane I mean Morgan, her three girls, Gianna, and Grandpa and Sharp Investigations includes Linoln, Lance, and Lance’s mom, Jenny Kruger, and now we have to include Lincoln’s lady friend, Olivia Cruz. For the first time since I started reviewing books I must tread lightly. I want so badly to say something that would spoil the book for someone else, but I promise to try my best not to do so.If you have to bring a series to an end, this is the way to do it. That makes me want to ask, why do you have to bring a series to an end? The clients of Morgan Dane, Esq. and Sharp Investigations are going to go on and on and with all of her clinics, seminars, and studies on the subject of crime, surely Melinda Leigh could find a way to write more stories about Morgan Dane, Attorney at Law, and Sharp Investigations. I’m not ready to say goodbye, so much more could happen. But then I don’t get to make that decision.I was into this book from the beginning. Olivia Cruz, Lincoln’s lady friend, is returning home from a visit with her parents, quite late and trouble awaits. The next day, Olivia’s mother calls Lincoln to find out if he knows why Olivia didn’t come pick her up for her doctor’s appointment that morning. Lincoln and Lance go to Olivia’s house to see if she is sick or hurt. Olivia made it home from her parents but then it appears she left again. Did she leave on her own or was it under coercion? It is at this point Lincoln loses his objectivity. Unfortunately, as a police officer and private investigator, he has seen too many cases where a person went missing and it didn’t end well. While Lincoln and Lance are at Olivia’s house trying to determine what happened to her they find signs that she did not leave willingly. The cover on her bed is strewn all over the bedroom, very uncharacteristic of Olivia, one of her fingernails is broken off in the facing of the garage door, along with some blood smeared on the facing. Then they find a set of earrings scattered on the garage floor. But why, who, where? They know the when because they know when she last talked to Lincoln. Why did she leave, was she meeting someone she needed to talk to for her book? Was she forced to leave? The end of this one will surprise you and if you are like me you will see parts that need another book to flesh out. Personally, I think Morgan Dane and crew should be recurring characterss. C’mon Melinda, write about them now and then. The heck with your publisher, after reading this book we know what publishers can be capable of doing. We want to read interesting books and you definitely write interesting books.Solid Series Addition As a usual reader of international police procedurals, Melinda Leigh's Morgan Dane series is a nice change of pace. Morgan is a defense attorney, formerly a prosecutor, working with the PI firm headed by Lincoln Sharp. In this 6th book she is engaged to Lance, the investigator in the team. All of these main characters are very likable, and their relationships grow throughout, making each book interesting, even aside from the mystery aspect. In Save Your Breath, journalist/crime writer and Lincoln's now girlfriend, is abducted by a masked man and then taken to an unknown location for unknown reasons. No ransom asked, no communication. There are many false starts in determining the cause of her abduction, whether related to her new crime book, perhaps uncovering new information about two convicted murders or something else entirely. It was those loose threads and my somewhat disbelief in the ultimate reason for her being taken that reduced my opinion to a four star book. Certainly a good read, but maybe not quite as compelling as earlier books. I would recommend reading them in order because of the special relationship these three build over time. I'll look forward to number 7!Great suspense, Wonderful characters, Nice ending to series Leigh has created a thrilling series that I truly enjoy. Light on romance yet heavy on mystery and suspense, this is a captivating series that will draw you in. Save Your Breath is the sixth installment in the Morgan Dane series and while each book can technically be read as a stand-alone, I strongly recommend reading the series in order to really get to know the characters, the intricacies of how they work, their friends and family and day-to-day events that tie the entire series together. Each book in the series has its’ own crime to solve but there is a series long arc surrounding Morgan and Lance and their growing relationship. This particular book revolves around Morgan and Lance helping Sharp, their friend and Lance’s partner, solve the disappearance of his lady love. With police hands tied from lack of evidence of a crime and little clues to go on, the three dive into the void to piece together Oliva’s last hours before her disappearance and unravel the mystery before it is too late. Aided by Morgan’s grandfather and Lance’s mother, the team is set and ready to rock and roll. However, the more they dig, the grimmer of a picture forms. Will they be able to piece together all the clues and find Olivia before time runs out? There is plenty of suspense, drama, and mystery to enjoy in this read along with a touch of off-the-page romance and a delightful HEA for Morgan and Lance. Some of the plot sequences were slightly predictable in places but it still does not take away from the excitement of the story. I believe this is the last book in the series and though I would have liked to have seen more of Sharp and Oliva, this book is a nice wrap-up to the series.*I received an ARC from the publisher, thru NetGalley and am providing my honest review.

Talk to Me Pdf

ISBN: B07PGZV8SC
Title: Talk to Me Pdf How Voice Computing Will Transform the Way We Live, Work, and Think

A New York Times Magazine writer explores the Next Big Thing in tech - the impending revolution in voice recognition - and shows how it will upend Silicon Valley and transform how we use computers, the Web, and much more.

Every decade or so brings a seismic shift in how people interact with tech, from the PC to the internet to the smartphone. James Vlahos shows that we are on the cusp of the next shift: to voice computing. Siri and Alexa are early forms of this technology, but the day is coming when we'll talk as fluently with our phones, appliances, cars, etc. as we do with any human.

Vlahos explains the enormous AI challenges that voice computing presents, and unpacks its vast economic, cultural, and psychological impact. He reveals how Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and other titans are competing fiercely to create the new voice-driven interfaces. Amazon has devoted an entire secret building to their efforts, and other companies are making similarly huge plays.

Vlahos doesn't shy away from the troubling questions that voice computing raises. Will people become emotionally dependent on lifelike computers? Will we confide in them in ways that further erode our privacy? Will they deepen our addiction to all things digital? We are on the verge of a transformation as big as the iPhone. Talk to Me will help us get ready.

The one book to read on the voice computing revolution! In the fifth chapter of his excellent book, Vlahos playfully invites the reader to skip ahead to chapter six if he wants to avoid the deeper dive into the technology of conversational AI. Don’t do it! The account of artificial neural networks that allows machines to learn does go deep, including such seemingly arcane matters as backpropagation, but here as elsewhere, Vlahos is a careful guide—he knows when we might get lost (or drown), when we need a recapitulation, an example or two. So even though the subject is challenging, the book is always fun to read.Vlahos gives us what feels like an insider account of the feverish research activity of the last few years. He has done his homework—read aand summarized some of the key theoretical essays, interviewed many of the key players (some of whom supply admiring comments for the book jacket), gone to and spoken at the professional conferences. Fittingly, In a book which is about the search to create a human sounding voice, Vlahos has no difficulty in projecting his own humane voice as a writer. We get glimpses of his family life, and a very moving account of his building a “dadbot” as a way of holding onto the memory his late father. He is enthusiastic about the promise of machine learning, but uneasy about the way voice AI blurs boundaries between the human and non-human. The Turing test hovers over this book as it does over any serious treatment of artificial intelligence, but as Vlahos suggests, the terms of the test have changed. It is no longer a simple opposition, the human on one side of the screen and the machine on the other side. Now that machines can learn without being programmed it is harder to keep the two categories distinct; we can see that human learning is like the pattern recognition of the computers or building up of scripts that guide us in figuring out how the world work. In one of his many interesting asides, he notes that computers sometimes have an advantage in creativity, the very realms that we might think are alien to them. Computers come up with nonsense, but also advertising slogans and haiku that are indistinguishable from “real” (written by humans). Heady stuff and Vlahos is a great guide through it all. What a future coming NOW If you are not an IT expert or know-it-all computer software tech, this book will bring you up to speed with what is coming out to the general public--and it is fascinating. I couldn't help chuckling, laughing, commenting all the while I read it because it could just turn my world on its ear. Easy to understand, Vlahos has done a great job of presenting a technical subject from the point of view of a layman. If you are seeing people walking around with ear pieces in, looking at cell phones, etc. this will tell you where our choice of communications is going and why. Kinda like the difference between saddling a horse or driving a car. I've recommended it to many. Good job, Vlahos.

Title: Spring House Pdf

The lives of two women, generations apart, converge in this enthralling novel of love, mystery, memories, and secrets.

Pregnant and still grieving the death of her fiancé, historian Megan Buchanan is forging ahead on a dream project: to restore to its original glory the landmark hunting lodge her own great-great-grandfather built on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. With the help of her fiancé’s caring best friend, it’s sure to draw much-needed tourist revenue to Cape Hudson, a town rich in southern history.

However, it’s Spring House, the caretaker’s cottage on the grounds, that holds the most intriguing history for Megan. In a cache of old letters, she’s drawn into the captivating life of a young woman who embarked on her own dream adventure a century ago. With each one, Megan is swept away into her enthralling world—and all its secrets. But Megan has secrets too.

Now, as one woman’s past unfolds in each revealing letter, Megan will discover more about herself and about the emotional tides of family that can be weathered with those you love and trust the most.

Nice sequel... It took me a while to remember details from the previous book, but this is a nice sequel. A bit drawn out at times, but overall a book that holds your attention. I hope to see more of Rick and Megan in the next book.Spring House The storytelling and history buried within the house and with Adele was complicated; compelling and captivating. How you weaved together the history and people is amazing and intriguing to say the least. Diane being the lost link was a intense story of its self and her life precious. Megan felt her completely and gave her life again with her own daughter. Truely hope there is book 3 in this series as there is so much future together with their lives and the 2 homes. No telling what else could be found. Please, exceptional storytelling!! Loved reading this book immensely!! !!Loved it! This is a book I will read over and over again. I adored every second of this book. It didn't take me long to feel like I was among friends, helping to restore Spring House, and trying to uncover Diane's story. It was a little bit of everything I love about books. There was a little bit of romance, a little bit of history, and a little bit of intrigue, all wrapped up in a beautifully written story that spanned decades. I get a little nervous when I read books that bounce around from one time period to another. Sometimes, they can get confusing, but that did not happen with Spring House. It actually made it impossible to put the book down. I couldn't wait to see how everything played out, and how everything was connected. This was my first Mary Ellen Taylor book, and I can't wait to go back and read Winter Cottage so I can spend a little more time in this world with these characters. This is a book I will revisit time and time again, and it's a book I will tell all of my friends about.
