Title: Becoming Pdf

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States.

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America - the first African American to serve in that role - she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the United States and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites listeners into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her - from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work to her time spent at the world's most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it - in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations - and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Full of whiny nonsense Why write a book and then fill it with such nonsense? This book was full of poorly written "feels" and obviously meant to up the Michelle O cred with the Oprah crowd. It's poorly written and leads you by the nose through the entire book in a "notice this, smell this, feel this" kind of way. I found it tiresome and disappointing. This was my First Lady, but this book wasn't worth 0.50. Instead of making me more excited about the Obamas, it just made me sad and disappointed, and worst of all I felt manipulated by the forced situations.Skip this book. It's not worthy of even the most die-hard Obama fan's hard earned money.Everyone has a story to tell and Michelle Obama delivers a great one. A window into her life so far, Michelle Obama gives us endearing, insightful, honest memories. From growing up in a working class household in Chicago, to leaving the White House residence, her story is unique and thought provoking. If you admire and respect the Obamas, you will like this book.An Amazing Book!! Buy it now.. #Oprahsbookclub Michelle Obama is my voice, a voice that may never be heard with thoughts, feelings and experiences similar to mine yet they don’t matter until now. Thank you Mrs. Obama! For being the voice of this African American woman❤️ Everyone should buy this book!

Author: Gwenda Bond
Published Date: 2019-02-05

“You’re left hungry for more, but in the best way possible, as the book manages the balancing act between interconnected prequel and standalone story.”—Cinelinx   “Suspicious Minds is the prequel story that fans have been waiting for.”—Kirkus Reviews   “Highly recommended for those readers interested in expanding their knowledge of the Stranger Things’ universe, this book is also a dark and captivating story that will stick in the readers’ minds even if they are not fans of the franchise.”—The Unseen Library Gwenda Bond writes YA and children’s fiction, among other things. Her novels include the Lois Lane series (Fallout, Double Down, Triple Threat), which brings the iconic comic book character front and center, and the Cirque American series (Girl on a Wire, Girl Over Paris, Girl in the Shadows), about daredevil heroines who discover magic and mystery lurking under the big top. She and her husband, Christopher Rowe, also co-write a middle-grade series, The Supernormal Sleuthing Service. Bond’s nonfiction writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Publishers Weekly, Locus, and many other publications. She has an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives in a hundred-year-old house in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband and their unruly pets. There are rumors she escaped from a screwball comedy, and she might have a journalism degree because of her childhood love of Lois Lane.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A mysterious lab. A sinister scientist. A secret history. If you think you know the truth behind Eleven’s mother, prepare to have your mind turned Upside Down in this thrilling prequel to the hit show Stranger Things.

It’s the summer of 1969, and the shock of conflict reverberates through the youth of America, both at home and abroad. As a student at a quiet college campus in the heartland of Indiana, Terry Ives couldn’t be farther from the front lines of Vietnam or the incendiary protests in Washington.

But the world is changing, and Terry isn’t content to watch from the sidelines. When word gets around about an important government experiment in the small town of Hawkins, she signs on as a test subject for the project, code-named MKULTRA. Unmarked vans, a remote lab deep in the woods, mind-altering substances administered by tight-lipped researchers . . . and a mystery the young and restless Terry is determined to uncover.

But behind the walls of Hawkins National Laboratory—and the piercing gaze of its director, Dr. Martin Brenner—lurks a conspiracy greater than Terry could have ever imagined. To face it, she’ll need the help of her fellow test subjects, including one so mysterious the world doesn’t know she exists—a young girl with unexplainable superhuman powers and a number instead of a name: 008.

Amid the rising tensions of the new decade, Terry Ives and Martin Brenner have begun a different kind of war—one where the human mind is the battlefield.

Pretty cool story Pretty cool. Author obviously went to great lengths to make sure plot meshed with tv show. A little slower than I wanted but big finish was worth it. Highly recommended and can't wait for another one.Loved the show, loving the book! While I loved the show, this prequel provides many things I was craving: more exploration of the world, Stephen King-esque homages, and—above all—a great cast of women characters!A Captivating Addition to the Stranger Things Universe! This was an absolutely brilliant read. As someone obsessed with any-and-all-things Stranger Things, as well as everything that inspired it, I was both excited and nervous about this new novel. My fears were set aside from page one. The author, Gwenda Bond, has achieved everything that makes the original show so great, while at the same time adding her own unique flairs and ideas to the story, bringing together characters we know and some brand new faces that add a new depth to the story. What I respected the most was Bond's ability to tell a story that is her own without disregarding what the show has already told us. And in doing so, she manages to make the book and her writing stand on its own. It's very clear that she has honored what makes the television show so special and then added something just as special to it.As I read, I found the characters were engaging and the story to be captivating on multiple levels, and it answers many of the persisting questions I had about both the Stranger Things and Hawkins Lab mythology without taking away its mystery and mystique. Another aspect of the novel that I appreciated was how it brought a significant season two character full circle. This was a character that many fans of the show, including myself, had written off entirely, not showing any particular care or interest. And that was the character of 008, or Kali as we've come to know her.I, like many others, was not a fan of the much talked about seventh episode of Season 2. The addition of Kali, and her gang of Chicago street toughs, is one of the most polarizing moments of the show thus far. Many viewers like myself didn't connect with, didn't like, or didn't respect her character. Ultimately, we didn't see the point of her being there. For myself, the most nagging question I had watching the show was "Why did Eleven go all this way to find her mother only to leave her right away to go find this mysterious girl we have never met before?" Bond offers a brilliant answer. In her writing, she brings Kali and Terry Ives together in a stunning, beautiful, and almost tragic way. This significant plot-device adds a whole new layer to the show and actually makes one look at that much-maligned Episode 7 of Season 2 and Kali in a much different way. What impressed me was Bond's ability to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time reading. Having watched the show countless time, I know all too well what happens to Terry Ives, Dr. Brenner, Kali, and eventually Baby Jane or Eleven. But Bond kept my attention, and had me holding out hope that things will still turn out okay, despite knowing the truth of what happens next. The end result is a tragic tale that at times brought a tear to my eye.But what I appreciated the most about "Suspicious Minds" was the way it introduced me to a whole new era of American history. While the television show focuses on the 80's and the Reagan era, "Suspicious Minds" takes the reader back to the late 60's/early 70's Nixon and Vietnam era -- a time period that was only hinted at in the show. In doing so, Bond is able to accomplish what the show has done so successfully -- bring the reader right into the world in which it is set, providing entertainment and the occasional history lesson. This novel is a brilliant addition to the Stranger Things Universe. It is a must read for any fan. Even if you've never seen an episode of Stranger Things (what are you waiting for?), the book itself is still a wonderful read and is easy to follow. If you are coming into the world of Stranger Things and Hawkins Lab for the first time, you won't find yourself lost or confused.I, for one, am anxiously looking forward to not just what future Stranger Things novels will reveal (such as the recently announced "Darkness on the Edge of Town" and "Runaway Max"), but also digging deeper into the work of Gwenda Bond. This novel has made me a fan! Thank you, Gwenda!

Dying to Eat Pdf

ISBN: 1793302014
Title: Dying to Eat Pdf Confessions of a Food Addict
On the radar of Major League Baseball scouts, Ed Adams, a standout high school hitter from Penn Hills, Pa., headed south in 1977 to play Division I baseball for the University of South Carolina. In his sophomore year, a passion for food that he could not control took hold. He struck out, leaving his dreams in the dust of the baseball diamond. As he gained and lost hundreds of pounds, the soul of an athlete remained and drove him to fight his demons time and time again. In Dying to Eat: Confessions of a Food Addict, Ed shares his story with the hopes of inspiring those who struggle with their weight to keep fighting — and to realize that there is more to life than the numbers on a scale.

This Book Tells It All About Food Addiction I couldn't put the book down. I am not a person who reads at all. I knew Ed Adams and we graduated together. I also knew Zandy Dudiak in school too. That is not why I bought the book. I am a 15 year gastric bypass patient . I am considered a success keeping 80 lbs off but these last 30 lbs I have had no success. The things in the book I can relate and still struggle with it myself. Still diabetic I choose the wrong food plan. My comfort food is carbs. Just like in the book. Been to several nutritional consults and I hate to exercise. By reading this book and seeing what Ed went thru I am going to get back on the food plan and excercise. I too had to choose gastric bypass to live longer or maybe not live at all. My max was 252 lbs and I said I cannot do this anymore to myself. I wanted to be here for my family. I had the permanent bypass done with the Y Tube. I did this not because of looks but for my health. I admire Ed for telling his story and for him and Zandy to write it. Even after Ed's death Zandy finished the book. Ed wanted to help people. He was a very kind man as stated in the book. His wish was to help people. Please read the book. If you can help one person or more that would be a wonderful thing to do for someone. I've lived it and still continue to struggle. It is an addiction as real as drugs or alchol. And I still have depression to deal with but it's being managed by doctors. This is a life long thing. I only wished I knew of Ed's struggles. Maybe I could have helped him but he was a very private man. Love you Ed and thanks for sharing your story to tell it all.

Educated by Design Download

ISBN: 1949595102
Title: Educated by Design Pdf Designing the Space to Experiment, Explore, and Extract Your Creative Potential
Author: Michael Cohen
Published Date: 2018-12-22

Creativity is about seeing the world differently. It’s about coming up with unconventional ways to express ideas and solve “impossible” problems. Creativity is within reach for everyone.

Yes. Even you.

No one expects to run—much less win—a marathon without preparation. Such endeavors require training and practice. Lots of practice and even some slips and falls along the way. In Educated by Design, Michael Cohen (aka The Tech Rabbi) explains that creativity is no different. When creativity is clearly defined and intentionally practiced, all educators can improve the design they bring to their students’ learning experiences.

So many people look at others’ success and criticize themselves for not being artistic or talented. In reality, creativity is a mindset that anyone can develop and grow. In this book, Cohen gives you the guidance you need to boost your creative courage and extract your own creative potential. With a little practice, you might just discover that creativity can change the world.

Transform Learning Experiences Through Design & Creativity What an amazing book. It was just what I needed to help stimulate and extend my thinking about creativity in the classroom. Cohen writes in a clear and easy to understand fashion about the importance of helping our students become designers. I also like that he shares his personal experiences from being a designer and how that connects to education. As educators, we must remember that we are designing for our students, just like a designer focuses on the client. Cohen also connects the importance of using creativity to improve the quality of life for others. It is this idea of "applied creativity" that resonated most with me. He also has some powerful and transformative quotes that highlight creativity. I cannot say enough about the importance of this book for those educators who really want to focus on helping their students expand their creativity. Additionally, I was intrigued by Cohen's connection between creativity and sacred things. I would highly encourage educators who are truly ready to transform their classrooms to better serve students by developing their creativity to read and use this book. I have marked all over my copy. Also, there are practical ideas that will be easy to implement. Definitely buy, use, and implement this book. It will transform the learning experience of students. I was able to meet Cohen at FETC 2019 and he is stand up gentlemen with ideas worth listening to and implementing in the classroom. May we never forget the importance of cultivating creativity with all students in our classroom.A book for the struggling creative In this book the author shares his own creative journey and struggles as well as his own perspective and process to succeed in building stronger creative abilities. The book contains many practical lessons and examples that can support the readers growth as well as anyone who the reader teachers or mentors. I highly recommend this book!Sparking tomorrow’s Creativity! Just finished reading #EducatedByDesign. It’s definitely one of my top reads around education, developing students thinking, creativity, and future communication skills. I strongly recommend this read to any educator.
